Rosamund Pike, 37, turned heads at the Dior runway show in Paris this week, wearing a beautifully tailored, cherry red dress coat. Best known for her role in the movie Gone Girl, the actress paired the bold colored Dior coat with oversize tortoise sunglasses, black tights, and grey leather shoes with a chunky heel. Accompanying the star was long-time boyfriend Robie Uniacke.

The chic lapels and clean lines of Rosamund’s coat make it a winner for any day of the week: whether you’re headed to a fashion runway show like Rosamund, a business meeting, or church on Sunday. But the color is what really makes this look stand out: so often winter leaves us wearing forgettable greys and basic blacks. Vibrant red is a less expected choice for outerwear, and will help boost your mood during long, cold days.

To get the look, consider this Michael Kors Collection double-breasted wool coat in a similar shade to the star’s Dior coat. For daytime wear, try a men’s style shoe like Rosamund wore, but for evenings dress it up with some black Mary Janes. Not used to wearing such a bold color? Keep the look classic by pairing it with black, tan, grey and white. If you have a ruddy complexion, you may want to opt for a slightly deeper red hue, rather than full-on cherry. Either way, don’t forget to pair it with your warmest accessory: a smile.
